First responders on scene to stabilize patients, coordinate with ambulance services, and deliver critical care during the most vital minutes.
Trained personnel and specialized equipment to safely contain and mitigate hazardous material spills, chemical releases, and environmental threats.
Coordinated search operations for missing persons, vehicle extrication from remote locations, and disaster response across our rural service area.

Building trust and relationships through open house events, station tours, youth programs, and partnerships with local organizations and schools.
Our Story
The Polk Rural Fire Department was founded on a simple but profound conviction: that every resident of our rural community deserves the same level of emergency protection found in larger cities. What began as a voluntary effort by a handful of neighbors has grown into a respected, professional department serving Polk County and the surrounding area.
Our firefighters and volunteers live and work right here in Polk. They are teachers, farmers, small-business owners, and families — the same families we are sworn to protect. That personal connection shapes everything we do, from the way we respond to a structure fire at 2 a.m. to how we approach a school safety presentation in the autumn.
We operate from our station at 3619 Highway D, maintaining readiness around the clock. Our equipment is regularly inspected, our personnel continuously trained, and our doors remain open to the community we are honored to serve.
Get Involved
The Polk Rural Fire Department is more than an emergency response team — we are a community institution. Our volunteers come from the same streets, shops, and farms as the residents they protect. When you see our truck roll through town, it is one of your neighbors behind the wheel.
We invite you to learn more about our department, attend our community events, or explore opportunities to support our mission. Whether you need information about fire safety, want to schedule a station tour, or are interested in how our department serves this area — we would love to hear from you.
